The
following are NOT presented as trade recommendations.
Stock,
futures, forex, and options trading is not appropriate for
everyone. There is a substantial risk of loss associated
with trading these markets. Losses can and will occur. No
system or methodology has ever been developed that can
guarantee profits or ensure freedom from losses. No
representation or implication is being made that using
this methodology or system or the information in this
letter will generate profits or ensure freedom from
losses.
HYPOTHETICAL OR SIMULATED PERFORMANCE RESULTS HAVE CERTAIN
LIMITATIONS. UNLIKE AN ACTUAL PERFORMANCE RECORD,
SIMULATED RESULTS DO NOT REPRESENT ACTUAL TRADING. ALSO,
SINCE THE TRADES HAVE NOT BEEN EXECUTED, THE RESULTS MAY
HAVE UNDER-OR-OVER COMPENSATED FOR THE IMPACT, IF ANY, OF
CERTAIN MARKET FACTORS, SUCH AS LACK OF LIQUIDITY.
SIMULATED TRADING PROGRAMS IN GENERAL ARE ALSO SUBJECT TO
THE FACT THAT THEY ARE DESIGNED WITH THE BENEFIT OF
HINDSIGHT. NO REPRESENTATION IS BEING MADE THAT ANY
ACCOUNT WILL OR IS LIKELY TO ACHIEVE PROFIT OR LOSSES
SIMILAR TO THOSE SHOWN.
The purpose of this page is to show trading results from trading with a
discipline, some market knowledge, and technical
analysis. Disclaimer.
This page is showing the
results from the picks sent out in this period of time
which can be seen

Account Size:
$10,000
|
To
the left are the guidelines I try to follow as a
discipline, plus or minus a little to
accommodate certain trades. If you want to see
how it works with different account sizes visit
the
Money Management
page.
I use a $10,000 account size so that I do not do more
than three day trades in any five day period,
which is a stipulation all brokerage firms have if your
account size is under $25,000. But I am allowed
three day
trades per account per each
five day period. I can have more than one or two brokers.
People with full-time jobs would pretty much have to
trade in this fashion, i.e., using limit orders and sell
stops or bracket orders.
Trades are done on a limit order contingent basis,
contingent on the stock price hitting the trigger entry
price.
Sell stops are placed upon entry and are set according
to the candle action I see in the chart.
Sell stops are also reviewed and adjusted on a daily
basis and/or I will manually go in and sell it, my
choice.
For
options, you have different methods to choose
from- it's a choice, your money, your choice: |
I can put the same $2,000 in an option trade and
calculate my risk amount by the above calculations where
the $150 will be the amount I might pay for an option
contract on that stock until it totals my 3%.
However, think this through... if I was buying the
stock AND I was willing to risk $150 as a loss, wouldn't
this allow me to give my option more leeway?
I don't have to be overly concerned if I follow this one
rule: If I wouldn't sell the stock based on the
chart action, then I'm not going to get out of my option
position even if it's down. I would allow a 40%
drop in value before I call it quits. Your comfort
level will tell you what's right.
Alternatively, I can, and probably should consider not
20% of the account value in any one option trade, but
only the amount that I was willing to risk HAD I BOUGHT
THE STOCK. In this example, my total option trade
would be $150. Or any number that allows me to
sleep at night in case it gapped against me the next
morning.
These are guidelines. They are a starting point for a
disciplined approach to trading. If you start
playing with options like a gunslinger, you'll only end
up shooting your account.
|
|
|
Per trade risk amount: 3%
|
|
3% of $10,000
=
300.00
This is your per trade risk.
|
|
No more than 20% of account
in any one trade = $2,000
|
|
Divide the $2,000 by the stock price, say $23.50 per
share; this equals the # of shares you would get and
round that number up or down.
In this case, it equals 85 shares rounded up to
100 shares.
|
|
Calculate the difference between your entry price,
$23.50, to your stop loss price, say $22.00, which is $1.50.
That $1.50 times the # shares you have, 100,
equals $150.
$150 is your risk in the trade.
|
|
$150 is 1.5% of the account and less than the 3% we were
willing to risk.

recommending the picks.
Updated Tues. and Fri. If you don't see one of
the recommendations made in the
email picks
entered below it's because the trade
was never triggered per the recommended entry price.

* Note: Performance is measured from the entry
point to the next highest or lowest point
without getting stopped out or upon having hit a
target price. These results could have been
obtained by a manual sell, a trailing stop, or a
sell limit order. This is a representation of
trading results and in no way suggest that your performance would
be the same. It is meant to show that
knowing what you are doing CAN work for you in
any environment... up or down market. |
